What they say…
Maxim Illion (Club des Belugas)
Italian composer, producer and multi-instrumentalist Bebo Best and his Super Lounge Orchestra blend bossanova, nu funk, and jazz-dance with the sounds of 60s and 70s lounge and exotica.
Bebo Best & The Super Lounge Orchestra‘s debut album “Sitar and Bossa” was released on Chin Chin Records in 2007 to widespread international acclaim. The band followed-up with “D’Jazzonga” the next year, which included tracks “Life On The Sea” that went on to be included in vol.10 of the Buddha Bar compilation and “Oh Jeje” that was used in US show “So you think you can Dance” aired on Fox TV. In the following years the band’s work in the studio produced a steady stream of full-lengths; “Saronno On The Rocks” in 2011, “Jazz For Imaginary Movies” in 2012, “Mambossa” in 2013 and “Trip To Rio De Janeiro” in 2014.
In the meantime the group composed of virtuoso musicians from Brazil and Italy was chosen by BMW for their motors showcase in Moscow, as well as enjoying lengthy tours in Brazil and Europe. Bebo Best & The Super Lounge Orchestra have released alongside artists such as Marisa Monte, Bebel Gilberto, Nicola Conte, Norah Jones, Mario Biondi, and Fabrizio Bosso on top labels like Sony BMG and EMI music.
Bebo Best has also been the driving force behind Brenda Boykin, having written, arranged and produced the music for the American jazz singer’s 2008 album “Chocolate & Chill”, where he played double bass, guitars and percussion, as well as having entirely written and produced Brenda‘s 2012 album “All The Time In The World” which saw the participation of James Taylor. In addition Bebo has worked on numerous soundtracks for film and TV, while contemporarily forging a career in theater and dance, and working for artists such as Woody Allen, Jane Champion and Carolyn Carlson.
With support from important national radio stations such as BBC (UK), Radio Rai (Italy) and WDR (DE) to name a few, there’s little doubt that Bebo Best & The Super Lounge Orchestra have carved themselves a relevant spot in the contemporary music market. With new album “JazzMamba” expected to drop on September 2016, the group is ready to set a new cornerstone in their already prolific career.
