L.A.-based multi-instrumentalist, producer and songwriter Shane Sato announces his sophomore album Wavelength, an expansive eleven-track release that fuses jazz, indie R&B and soul into a warm, fluid soundscape shaped by collaboration, emotional depth, and the soothing, connective pull of water.

Born and raised in Southern California, Japanese-American artist Shane Sato has always occupied a space where cultures, sounds, and influences converge. Based in L.A., Shane created a huge splash last year with his debut solo album Until We Meet Again. A breakthrough that drew critical praise, a string of standout collaborations, and north of a million streams in its wake.

Building on his foundation, Shane is ready to release sophomore album, Wavelength, where he leans fully into the spirit of his creative community, who helped create some of his most sonically daring compositions to date. On the new album, Shane has assembled a powerhouse roster of collaborators and friends, including the critically lauded Braxton Cook, the indie pop powerhouse Box Dreams, the R&B troubadour Oli-J, and modern R&B songstress Nao Yoshioka – to name a few.

The record is an amalgamation of jazz, indie R&B, and soul at its finest as it delves into the influences each genre has on the other. All the while stitched together by warm, vibrant textures and an organic thematic current of love, connection, and the calming flow of water. The result is Wavelength, an album that not only expands Sato’s sound; it marks a defining chapter in his discography.

The new album presents 11 fresh songs, each offering a distinct window into the emotional and sonic world of the record. With standouts like the lead single “Never Let You G”, an R&B meditation on love and devotion. It was born from a spontaneous jam session days after Shane’s wedding and brought to life alongside Nashville vocalist Oli-J and co-producers Coastal and Clay Sauter. While on “Deep Dive” Shane takes a moodier, indie-leaning turn, born from late-night sessions with Box Dreams frontman Adam Rhodes, whose raspy vocal brings to life an intimate exploration of falling into new love — showcasing the jazzy, cooler textures of Sato’s sound.

“Surfliner” is a neo-soul, jazz-inflected ride inspired by the iconic Southern California coastal train route, and features critically acclaimed saxophonist Braxton Cook‘s warm, breathy saxophone. It is an understated beat that perfectly captures the unhurried elegance of the journey. “Clouds” features the critically acclaimed Reuben James, who has earned the title of a musician’s musician, bringing his jazz virtuosity and soulful, evocative voice to the album. And the lo-fi dance-infused number is “Pulse”, which features the acclaimed producer and musician Coastal.

Shane is planning to perform locally in support of the new album with a large tour later this year. Set to be one of the most compelling independent releases of the year, Wavelength will be available both on vinyl and digitally.
