The Mighty Mocambos and Nichola Richards are ‘Spinning’ new single
Hamburg’s funk kings The Mighty Mocambos proudly present “Spinning”, the second single from their upcoming new album A Higher Frequency, scheduled for release on LP and Digitally on June 6th 2025.
Opening with a nonchalant jazzy vocal hook, “Spinning” evolves into a stunning piece of big band soul meets folksy psych grooves: epic brass hook, funky organ, shadows of acoustic guitars and a blazing flute solo are all underpinned by a Mighty Mocambos’ signature crunchy beat. The song is one of the few vocal tracks of the upcoming album and features the contribution of British singer-songwriter and long-time Mocambo collaborator Nichola Richards.
This single as well as the new full-length A Higher Frequency were recorded with a nine-piece live to tape at the legendary MPS studio in the Black Forest. The album is full of spiritual grooves, soulful themes, loose funkiness and organic interplay, captured with state-of-the-art 1960s gear in a super-vibey room – but the title A Higher Frequency is not just about the pristine analogue sound quality of the recording, it is also a reference to a trancendant wavelength where minds meet and music connects.
