Shane Sato collaborates with UK artist Reuben James on ‘Clouds’
“Clouds” is the fourth single from Shane Sato’s upcoming album Wavelength, and is a collaboration with acclaimed UK artist, songwriter, and pianist Reuben James, blending soul, R&B, and indie influences into a groove-forward, instrumentally rich sound.
Reuben James is a jazz-rooted pianist, singer, songwriter and producer from Birmingham and now based in London who has become a key UK neo-soul/R&B figure and a sought‑after collaborator for major pop and soul artists. He co‑wrote material on Sam Smith’s multi‑million‑selling album The Thrill of It All, which reached number one in both the UK and US, as well as collaborating with artists including Herbie Hancock, Elton John, Joni Mitchell, Brandi Carlile, Stormzy, Disclosure, Little Mix, Bruno Major, Tom Misch, James Bay, Liam Payne, Callum Scott and Lang Lang.
Driven by smashing drums, warm synthesizers, expressive piano, and Reuben’s soulful vocal performance, “Clouds” pairs live musicianship with modern production. Centered around the hook “You show me how to fall from the clouds”, the lyrics lean into mood and motion over literal meaning.
