Shane Sato and saxophonist Braxton Cook in single ‘Surfliner’
New single “Surfliner” is a light, jazz-inflected instrumental inspired by the iconic Amtrak route that winds along the Southern California coastline. Written and produced by LA-based musician Shane Sato and featuring acclaimed saxophonist Braxton Cook, the track captures the quiet luxury of looking out of a train window as the ocean meets the sand on a warm summer day. Cook’s warm, breathy saxophone carries both the main melody and solo, complemented by his expressive piano performance, while soft pads and a groovy, understated beat create a relaxed sense of motion. The song evokes the timeless, almost old-world elegance of the Surfliner experience—coastal views, ocean spray in the air, a drink in hand, and the peaceful rhythm of travel.
“Surfliner” is the third single as part of the rollout of Shane Sato’s upcoming album Wavelength, an ode to collaboration, love and the calming flow of water. Featuring a powerhouse lineup of collaborators and friends, this upcoming album paints a palette of warm, vibrant colours and explores multiple genres from jazz to indie to soul. The full-length is expected to drop in the Spring of 2026, and is a follow-up of Shane’s acclaimed debut Until We Meet Again, which garnered 1million+ streams.
