MT Jones, full name Michael Thomas Jones, is a Liverpool-based musician and singer with a sound that blends the warmth of 60’s and 70’s greats and the texture of modern R&B and jazz. Jones’ music is rooted in timeless songwriting, live instrumentation, and a voice that carries both vulnerability and power.

Born in Ellesmere Port, Cheshire, England, MT Jones grew up immersed in 1960s and 1970s music through his uncle and father. He started busking on Chester streets at age 11 or 12, and taught himself piano after seeing Stevie Wonder live at 13. He attended Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (LIPA), where he befriended soul artist Jalen Ngonda, later joining Ngonda’s touring band on bass, keys, and backing vocals, including support for Lauryn Hill.

Jones honed his songwriting, production, and studio skills amid odd jobs and cover gigs, and took advantage of covid to focus on his own original compositions. His debut single “I Won’t Ever Say Goodbye” was released in late 2022, and was followed by a steady stream of tracks, including “All I Do” in early 2024 as a teaser for his self-titled debut EP released in October 2024, and collaborations with Baltic Jazz Recordings on “Forever & A Day“ and “So Glad“ by Maevey.

Before even releasing an album MT Jones‘ music has been featured on BBC 2, BBC 6, Jazz fm, national stations in France (FIP), Italy (Radio Capital), Spain (Radio 3), Switzerland (RSI), and on magazines such as Echoes, Detail and Rockerilla. Live performances include recent headliner shows at the Moroccan Lounge in Los Angeles , Baby’s All Right in New York and Islington Assembly Hall in London, while 2026 will see him go on an extensive EU tour and perform at SXSW Festival.

As anticipation rises for MT Jones to release his debut full-length Joy, finally ready to see the light of day in Spring 2026, more singles will be revealed and music shared to his growing fanbase worldwide!
