Lance Ferguson’s Rare Groove Spectrum covers Jungle’s ‘Dominoes’

New Zealand-born, Melbourne-based producer, songwriter, guitarist, DJ and recording artist Lance Ferguson (The Bamboos / Machines Always Win / Menagerie), follows the release of Could Heaven Ever Be Like This with a bold new take on Jungle’s cult track Dominoes” and announces his forthcoming album Lance Ferguson’s Rare Groove Spectrum, Vol. 3 set for release on Friday November 21st.

A fan favourite of modern-day funk and soul lovers, Jungle’s original is reimagined here through the lens of Lance’s Rare Groove Spectrum project – stripped back, amped up and played live with an uncooked, authentic feel that pays homage to the essence of the original. “This is a version of Jungle’s sample-heavy cut given the raw, live Deep-Funk treatment, which I think fits well with the essence of the original”, says Lance. “The idea is to create a piece which might function as an imaginary lost ‘original version’ of the song”.

“Dominoes” offers a taste of what’s to come from Rare Groove Spectrum, Vol. 3 – the third instalment in Lance’s acclaimed series dedicated to reinterpreting soul, jazz and funk rarities with a live band. The project has earned praise from Gilles Peterson, Jazz FM, Craig Charles, Bandcamp and more.
