Italo exotica in Till Brönner’s cover of 70s tv theme ‘Viva La Felicità’
Hamburg-based musician Till Brönner, the only German jazz artist to have performed at the white house, announces his upcoming album Italia, to be released on September 5th 2025 via earMusic/Edel, where he takes listeners on a vibrant journey into the sun-drenched soundscape of Italy from the 1960s to the early 80s, with reworks of classic tunes from that era.
Italia was recorded in Bari and Rome, produced by Till Brönner and DJ, jazz musician and sound aesthete from Italy’s Puglia region Nicola Conte, internationally acclaimed for his elegant, genre-bending musical language that fuses jazz, bossa nova and club culture.
A first taste of the album comes in the form of single “Viva la Felicità”, a joyful reimagining of the theme from “Il Signor Rossi Cerca La Felicità”, the iconic Italian cartoon series from the 70s, in which a small man in a red hat wanders the world in search of happiness. Brönner‘s warm and charming tribute remains faithful to the exotica spirit of the original while delivering a crispier, more modern-sounding interpretation for today’s ears.
Italia is more than a musical project—it’s a deeply personal return for Till Brönner. The album is a vibrant, cinematic journey through Italy’s musical golden era—from the 1960s to early 1980s—featuring works by ‘cantautori’ (singer-songwriters) Lucio Battisti, Paolo Conte, Tony Renis, and film composers like Morricone, Piccioni, and Micalizzi.
At its heart, Italia is about authenticity, cultural openness, and timeless style—a tribute to a place and sound that helped shape Brönner’s identity during his childhood years in Rome.
