Israeli singer Bogee releases new single ‘Changing’ off upcoming EP
Austin TX-based Israeli soul singer-songwriter Bogee presents his new single “Changing” off his upcoming EP to be released this summer. Bogee is a singer, songwriter and guitarist who spent most of his developing years in Israel. In 2022 Bogee moved to the States in order to pursue his music career after dropping out of the music college he was attending in Israel. “I started to realize that the time I was practicing scales could be spent creating, not replicating”, Bogee explains.
Speaking of musical influences, Bogee states he was brought up in a household constantly listening to music from the 60s and 70s like the Beatles, Steely Dan, Crosby Stills Nash & Young, which he believes heavily inspires the lyricism and harmonies in his own music. Later in life Bogee stumbled across hip-hop, neo-soul and modern R&B artists taking in the sounds and writing from Eminem and Mac Miller on one end to Michael Kiwanuka, Thundercat and Tom Misch on the other, furthering his appreciation for the sonic signature of modern production.
Bogee’s current focus is on the release of his 2-part EP New Sh!t, which follows Part 1 that dropped in June 2025, showcasing 5 songs that lyrically cover love had and lost and his own personal growth. “Changing” anticipates the release of Part 2 and will be backed by touring dates later this year.
Both parts of this current recording project were produced in Israel at Kof Studios in Tel Aviv. The period and time spent recording there is described by both Bogee and producer Kof as a moment of safe haven and peace where they could escape the war outside and disappear into the creative realm, inviting some of the top recording and performing musicians in Israel to make their contributions, including Bogee’s father, whom the song is about.
“Changing” showcases a nostalgic string arrangement and crunchy drum sound paying homage to some of Bogee’s influences including Bill Withers, Stevie Wonder, and other soulful pioneers from the 1970s. Lyrically the song addresses an important and personal change his father went through while Bogee was a young adult, changing both his own and Bogee’s life for the better.
“While I was growing up, my father was my idol! He was playing shows blowing his trombone with such passion and charisma. It’s why I picked up music in the first place! Some of my earliest memories with my father are the two of us sitting in the car picking apart and interpreting harmonies for Beatles, Steely Dan, and Eagles songs with bright-eyed enthusiasm!” Bogee says. “But he was also at times someone to fear, and definitely not someone to upset. A product of his upbringing in a very difficult home where he was severely mistreated. At 55, my father rose up and decided to make a change in his life and for the first time enrolled in therapy, both bettering his and all of our lives, but also setting an example of what it means for an old dog to learn new tricks. Having my dad in the studio, writing parts for songs was a dream come true for me”, Bogee comments.
“Changing” out digitally on April 24th 2026 as a self-release
