Guzheng artist Bei Bei releases new single and video ‘Two Moons’
Internationally acclaimed guzheng artist, emerging guqin performer, and composer Bei Bei has teamed up with London-based composer and producer Paul Elliott to create Two Moons, an original full-length album that bridges centuries of tradition with the sonic possibilities of the future. The launch of the new album campaign begins with the release of the first single—the title track—accompanied by a music video.
The title track was written on the evening of the 2024 Mid-Autumn Harvest Moon Festival, a time when families traditionally gather to celebrate love and harmony. Sitting in front of her guzheng—a Chinese plucked-string instrument with over 2,500 years of history—Bei Bei listened to the tracks Paul had already created for her. As emotions flowed naturally, notes poured from her fingers onto the strings. Absorbing the energy of the earth and moon, tender, touching, and emotive melodies emerged—expressing feelings of home, a deep connection to her Chinese roots, and the presence of family members far away.
Bei Bei poured her heart and soul into the music, channeling her emotions through her art. After completing the improvised recording late that night, she walked into the kitchen and suddenly saw through the window a bright full moon hanging in the sky—and a second moon reflected in the glass. She quickly grabbed her camera and captured the rare, beautiful moment. That photo of “two moons” later became part of the album’s cover design.
Two Moons contains seven original tracks, all written by Bei Bei and Paul Elliott, blending organic lo-fi electronic soundscapes with the timeless resonance of traditional Chinese instruments. The guzheng and guqin’s exquisite tones, paired with soulful, improvisational melodies, weave seamlessly with futuristic electronic textures—unfolding a new sonic dimension that reimagines the spirit of China in the modern world.
The single anticipates the full album of the same name, Two Moons, scheduled for digital and vinyl release on February 20th 2026. The album won Silver Medal at the Global Music Awards on October 17, 2025 as a world fusion album.
