Groove-forward indie pop in new single & video ‘Good Stuff’ by JOYA
Hong Kong-born, London-based artist JOYA releases indie pop single & video “Good Stuff”, with which she announces upcoming EP ERA 03. Produced with longtime collaborator Angus Parkin and accompanied by a music video directed by Edwin Lai (Cineoz Studios), the track arrives with a clarity that feels hard-won: a song about choosing to look at the small things when the world feels too big to face.
“‘Good Stuff’ was written just before my daughter arrived”, JOYA says. “The world felt paralysing. This song is the moment of deciding: turn toward the small things. Choosing hope and love as an act of rebellion against a world that encourages feeling numb.”
Groove-forward and warm, with the musical theatre heart that sits at the centre of JOYA’s songwriting, the track draws comparisons to Olivia Dean, Corinne Bailey Rae, and James Smith, artists who find the universal in the deeply personal. It is the most joyful thing she has made, and the most intentional: ERA 03 is built around a single question, what if it all works out?, and “Good stuff” is where that question begins.
This release follows “i know you” which arrived in March alongside JOYA’s last release, the short film As It Should Be, an 11-minute narrative about coming out to a traditional Hong Kong family during Lunar New Year, in which JOYA plays the lead role. The film won Best Short Film at the Hong Kong Microfilm Production Awards. “Good Stuff” is her first original studio single since last April and her first release through Symphonic, with three more singles and the full five-track EP to follow through September 2026.
The single launches with intimate listening events across Hong Kong and London, with European dates to follow. JOYA headlines Salon 10, Hong Kong in May, and returns to London on September 25 as the EP release show, with Paris and a second European city confirmed as part of the run. JOYA is a Spotify RADAR, EQUAL, and GLOW artist, and the first Hong Kong artist to appear on the global GLOW cover. Her last EP Afterglow reached 260,000 streams in its first month with zero paid marketing. She received national radio play on Jazz FM in December 2025, and press coverage includes SCMP, Tatler Asia, MTV Asia, TimeOut, and RTHK Radio. Sub-published via Warner Chappell Asia, she performs internationally across Asia, the UK, and Europe.
