Feed LA’s 45 ‘Fast Cash – Up in Stratosphere’ / ‘Back for the Future’
Berlin-based collective Feed LA came into existence in early 2020. With members from elite funk band Poets Of Rhythm and future jazz group Faruk Green, it’s no wonder this outfit is no stranger to the improv jazz and funk scenes. After self-releasing two singles, “Feed Lala” and “Striezl Stuck” ahead of their sophomore album More Feed dropping in July, they have one more trick up their sleeve, in the form of limited edition 45 “Fast Cash – Up in Stratosphere” / “Back For The Future” out on Brooklyn-based label Mighty Eye Records. The A-side is another sneak peak of the upcoming full-length, while the flip is a non-album goody exclusive to this 7″.
How the band describes the music:
A-side Fast Cash – Up in Stratosphere: Fast Cash! Everything is fun and play at the end of an excitng recording day: “Hey, let’s shove these two Faruk Green tunes into a blender, add a full serving of ice-cold Feed LA funkiness, flip the switch and watch it whirl!” Of course it’s clanky and noisy, of course it’s real and raw! So pour yourself a big glass of it, have a big sip and go way up – un/l you’re “Up in Stratosphere”.
B-side: Back for the Future: Feed LA is back – Back for the Future! Only seconds after the piano arpeggios are inviting yet another spontaneous Feed LA crea/on, all four voices join in and everything starts moving.
Guided by Daniel Rays’ flexible but solid drum pulse, keys, bass and horn explore the musical realms that open widely. Let the musicians take you with them on their journey, playfully switching roles, intertwining their melodies, creating moods and rhythms. Discern the organic changes happening while intensity slowly rises.Until you suddenly sense that huge center of gravity close by, only three minutes into the song.
And there, at the peak of the parabola, you witness the band taking the energy of this emotional focal point to elegantly curveball towards a completely different trajectory. Their music fading, while they’re on their way to gather more surprises to share with you in the future.
