Angels Of Libra and Nathan Johnston release third single ‘Lie To Me’
Angels Of Libra reunite once again with Nathan Johnston on “Lie to Me”, a track that blends the group’s soulful vintage aesthetic with a stripped-back, reflective mood and the third single from their forthcoming album Road to Mandalay, arriving January 30th 2026 on Waterfall Records.
Originally composed as an instrumental by Hans Christian Stephan of MEUTE, who also arranged the song’s expressive brass and subtly western-tinged string parts, “Lie to Me” evolved when Nathan Johnston added lyrics exploring a universal moment: realising that the big childhood dreams of fame, glory and “gold and glitter” don’t always materialise. As life grows tougher and adulthood takes shape, especially entering one’s 30s, the song reflects on the desire to slow down, reassess and find peace in the quieter corners of everyday life. It’s a message that says it’s okay to let go of old illusions and simply be yourself.
The production stays deliberately minimal, allowing space for the song’s emotional weight. Backing vocals from Sarife Afonso and Jean Cortis add a striking call-and-response texture, echoing Johnston’s ruminations, “I need a routine, where nobody bothers me”, before lifting the track to a spine-tingling climax as they repeat “Lie, lie, lie… lie to me”. Co-produced by Dennis Rux, the result is a deep, soulful track that reveals a more introspective side of Angels of Libra.
“Lie to Me” stands as a thoughtful counterpoint to the project’s previous upbeat releases, “I Fell in Love” and “Put Your Love on Me”, hinting at the emotional breadth listeners can expect from the forthcoming album, Road to Mandalay.
