Funky threesome OTS aka On The Spot trio drop new single ‘Hefe’

OTS aka On The Spot Trios latest single “Hefe” is coming to streaming services on April 17, 2020. “Hefe” has been six years in the making. Recorded at Soulive drummer Alan Evans’ Iron Wax Studio in 2014, “Hefe” has been patiently waiting to drop while OTS founding members Danny Mayer (Star Kitchen, Eric Krasno Band) and Kris Yunker (Alan Evans Trio, Jen Durkin & The Business) have been busy with international tours and recording sessions for many other projects. “Hefe” is one of two singles set to drop this year through Vintage League Music featuring Turkuaz drummer Michelangelo Carubba. The second single, “Soquel”, hits the scene in early summer of 2020.

Mayer and Yunker wrote “Hefe” in the early days of OTS on the beaches of Santa Cruz, California with drummer Jeff Wilson. The sunny, psychedelic jazz feel of “Hefe” compliments the steady funk-based rhythm of the tune. Mayer’s signature guitar riffs mixed with Yunker’s heavy left-handed bass lines and playful Hammond organ grooves make for a combination that has become OTS’s signature sound.

Since their formation in 2006, OTS has been no stranger to the music scene and quickly became a Santa Cruz favorite. Different drummers specializing in various rhythmic styles have lent their talents to help OTS find their versatile sound of psychedelic afrobeat influenced soul-jazz with just a bit of the improvisational jam and boogaloo feels. Having been on multiple national tours, OTS shared the stage with the likes of Orgone, The Monophonics, Dumpstaphunk, Buckethead and Melvin Seals & JGB.

OTS’s previous releases include the album Shag (2014, Big Ol’ Dirty Records), Soul Banshee EP and Suction 45 (2012, Colemine Records) and the album Straight Out The Garden (2010, U & L Records).
